The Purdue Drone Club will be hosting the first ever Collegiate Drone Racing National Championship on April 15th, 2017. This historical event is a landmark in collegiate drone racing and a huge step in progressing the sport. Drone racing is currently one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, airing its first professional season on ESPN this past year. With the sport on the rise, the Purdue Drone Club wants to be the face of collegiate drone racing and kickstart the sport by hosting the first ever Collegiate Drone Racing National Championship, right here at Purdue. Purdue's Drone Club will be competing against universities across the nation for the title of fastest collegiate drone racing team. The race is a family friendly event that promotes the education and use of drone technology to students and the community, a major goal of the Drone Club here at Purdue. At the event, there will be video goggles, simulators, and a projected live feed video for spectators to interact with, giving them the opportunity to experience everything pilot’s go through in real life. This event is substance-free and open to the Purdue community at no cost. All are welcome to attend and witness this historical event in collegiate drone racing!
